Professor Simon Tweddell
A Journey through Educational Change: An Intrepid Adventure - with Professor Simon Tweddell
This Bradford Inaugural Lecture celebrated Simon Tweddell's promotion to the position of Professor. This is one of the highest achievements in an academic's career; it is a recognition by the University that they are operating at the highest level and recognised as a leader in their chosen field. As such, the promotion is worthy of celebration by both the academic and the University. The inaugural professorial lecture is a centuries-old tradition, marking this key milestone.
During this interactive lecture Simon took us through his journey of education from his undergraduate days and through his 27-year journey as an educator of pharmacy students, other educators, and of course his own development whilst at the University of Bradford. This journey starts from the days of teacher-centred acetates and overhead projectors (remember them?) through to student-centred pedagogies aimed at engaging and motivating students, promoting deeper approaches to learning, and the use of technology-enhanced learning.
