University hosts first Interdisciplinary Nuclear Disarmament Symposium
Speakers from Cambridge University and the University of San Fransico will speak at the first Interdisciplinary Nuclear Disarmament Symposium at the University of Bradford on Friday December 6.
The symposium will include presentations on:
- Regulating space: arms control and the future of anti-satellite weapons
- Where now for Britain and nuclear disarmament?
- The role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation mechanisms
Symposium organiser Dr Becky Alexis-Martin, who is due to address the United Nations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons in February, said: “On behalf of the University of Bradford, School of Social Sciences we are thrilled to welcome everyone to the International Nuclear Disarmament Symposium.
“This symposium is a great opportunity for collaboration as we bring together researchers from across the globe to explore themes of nuclear disarmament in an interdisciplinary context.
“Over the course of the day we have over 30 speakers coming together to explore ongoing research and themes of disarmament.
“We hope that this symposium provides our speakers and guests with the opportunity to come together and advance conversations around the themes of nuclear disarmament.”
Speakers at the event include Yui Fujiki, San Francisco University; Mhairi McClafferty, British American Security Information Council; Dr Simon Whitby and Professor Christoph Bluth from University of Bradford; Elizabeth Chappell, University College London; Rhys Crilley and Carolina Panico, University of Glasgow; Rhys Lewis-Jones, Cardiff University; Camille Larsen, University of Cambridge, and others.
