Continued Professional Development (CPD)

Discover how our CPD programmes can enhance your skills and develop your career as a professional.

We offer a range of short part-time CPD programmes for those wishing to enhance the skills of their team or increase their personal skills to develop their professional career.

Our CPD courses

We have a host of experts who are regularly updating their knowledge to support their teaching and research. This knowledge is translated into degree courses, but it is also used to offer shorter learning opportunities for professional updating or to expand skills or knowledge.

Topics of CPD study include:

  • management and leadership,
  • engineering,
  • health and healthcare.

Some of these are delivered as modules, with credits attached to them.

Other CPD courses include short courses designed for organisations (as bespoke training packages), such as our Dementia Care Mapping programme. We also have non-module based training courses and programmes for individuals to book onto, such as our Help to Grow course, the 50 shades of Dementia short courses, and the Braking of Road Vehicles course.

Get in touch via [email protected] to ask if we are able to design a CPD or training course for you.

The Bradford Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem

The Bradford Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem (BREE) is a programme designed to encourage entrepreneurs to develop new enterprise ideas and establish start-ups in the city.

Our scientific strengths will derive not only from our own research and capabilities, but also through open innovation, our ability to convene, engage and collaborate with the best scientific teams in the world, including our regional university partners.

We will back those projects which we believe can earn the best return for individuals and the University, to power our ecosystem to the next level.

Dementia Care Mapping™

Dementia Care Mapping™ (DCM) is an established approach to achieving and embedding person-centred care for people with dementia and is recognised by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. For over 20 years it has been used by care practitioners to improve quality of life for people living with dementia in a range of care settings, including care homes and hospitals.

At the heart of Dementia Care Mapping™ is the focus on viewing and understanding the perspectives of people living with dementia, something often overlooked in practice. DCM™ enables staff to take the perspective of a person with dementia in reflecting upon and assessing the quality of the care they provide. It empowers staff teams to improve the quality of care for people living with dementia.
